Overview

The Prof. V. K. Gokak Award for the year 2021 has been conferred upon Dr. S. G. Jainapura and Dr. Meena Deshpande Mahishi.

Dr. S. G. Jainapura, Retd. Founder Principal and Professor in English at the Adarsha Degree College is known for his several translations and his keen interest in prose, poetry, novels and criticisms. An erudite personality, his research on the education system abroad and applying the same to enhance learning in India has been appreciated by educational experts. For his novel Kadambari, he has won the Attimabbe Award.

Dr. Meena Deshpande Mahishi, Director, Bhavan’s Gandhi Center is a retired Political Science professor at Bangalore University. She played a pivotal role in the translations of ‘Collected works of Mahatma Gandhi’ and the translation of ‘Courts of India’ to Kannada. She has been bestowed with the ‘Woman Achiever Award’ from Nagamma Foundation (2011), ‘Ambassador of Peace’ from the Universal Peace Foundation (2014), Sarojamma Award from Kannada Sahitya Parishat (2019).
