Jyothy Charitable Trust, run by the parent organization Jyothi Group of Institutions, was founded in the year 1982 by Late Dr B. N. V. Subrahmanya. One of the several aims of this organization includes recognizing, encouraging and felicitating erudite scholars with a mastery over Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Kavyas and other facets of scholarly education. In consortium with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru, Jyothi Charitable Trust established the Vyasa Jyothi Award to felicitate these commendable intellects.
